APSU medical tech senior selected for national scholarship

APSU medical tech senior selected for national scholarship: Vanna Gassmann, a senior at Austin Peay State University, was one of six students selected in the nation to receive a $2,000 scholarship from the American Proficiency Institute (API).

Gassmann is enrolled in the Universitys medical technology program.

Medical technology is all about finding answers, she said. I have developed a greater interest in science throughout college and have become intrigued with solving problems in a laboratory atmosphere.

Dr. Perry M. Scanlan, associate professor and program director of the medical technology program at APSU, said, The highest praise for a medical technologist is that their work will save or help another person and that they will complete their duties mistake free. Ms. Gassmann will no doubt be someone who might catch a mistake or save a persons life through her attention to detail.
