T-Mobile trumpets fastest data performance in top 100 US markets: Just earlier today, the ITU did allow LTE, WiMax and HSPA+ or any evolved 3G technology to be known as 4G.
This certainly works well in T-Mobile’s favor who is doing all their best to push its HSPA+ network, making it America’s largest 4G network on paper. According to T-Mobile, they aren’t going to stop there, as an independent third-party recently claimed that T-Mobile is in possession of the fastest wireless performance in the top 100 US markets.

Mega introduces mobile technology
Mega introduces mobile technology: In 2011 Mega Bloks will launch new QR codes on its product packaging and print advertising. Spanning its boys and collectors’ portfolio, the codes will first appear on Dragons Universe, Halo and the new Blok Squad range, and will then be rolled out to additional ranges.
The QR (quick response) codes allow consumers to instantly view product information, images, videos and
instructions on a mobile page. This can be achieved by downloading a QR Code reader on a smart phone, which can then read the QR code on pack or in print.
In addition to new QR technology, Mega plans to refresh its microsites with a number of new innovative features. Kids will be able to view new 360° rotating product views, which explode showcasing the product build.

What will NOT happen in 4G world in 2011
What will NOT happen in 4G world in 2011: Prediction ain’t easy. But that doesn’t stop many would-be pundits from trying to read the 2011 tea leaves, with sometimes hilarious results.
The antidote? ABI Research’s annual take on what’s NOT going to happen next year in many of the markets.
Let's see a few of them.
The ITU still WON’T have the right to define 4G in 2011
The ITU has caused confusion in the industry to the point where some people really believe that the ITU defines 4G. But 4G is not a specification or a standard. It merely is shorthand for fourth generation mobile wireless technology.
In fact, the ITU does not create or define WiMAX or LTE either. The ITU sets criteria for existing and proposed technologies to meet – including speed and latency – so it can group them together with specific spectrum bands.

Novozymes Agrees to Purchase Merck KGaA Crop Science Unit for $275 Million
Novozymes Agrees to Purchase Merck KGaA Crop Science Unit for $275 Million: Novozymes A/S, the world’s largest maker of industrial enzymes, agreed to buy Merck KGaA’s bioagriculture science unit for $275 million, adding a range of products designed to improve yields.
EMD/Merck Crop BioScience, which makes natural inoculants to improve plant health, has had an average annual growth of about 15 percent over the last seven years, with expected sales this year of $60 million, Novozymes said in a statement today.
The company will be integrated in Novozymes’ BioBusiness unit, where research and development costs currently eclipse profits. Novozymes entered the bioagricultural business in 2007 with the acquisition of Philom Bios of Canada. The Bagsvaerd, Denmark-based company also bought Brazilian microorganism maker Turfal on Aug. 12.
“This purchase doubles Novozymes’ size in the BioBusiness segment and increases their ability to drive future growth,” said Jens Houe Thomsen, an analyst at Jyske Bank A/S, in an e- mail.
The BioBusiness unit aims to reach Novozymes’ targets of more than 10 percent annual organic sales growth and more than 20 percent operating profit margin by 2018.
“EMD/Merck Crop BioScience has a strong strategic fit with our existing BioAg business,” said Steen Riisgaard, chief executive officer of Novozymes, in the statement. “Sustainable products and technologies will in the future play an even greater role in the agricultural industry as they allow effective and more sustainable ways to grow crops.”

NOAH 2010: how to screw up a technology conference
NOAH 2010: how to screw up a technology conference: Milo Yiannopoulos discovers every possible conference taboo broken by London's NOAH.
Thinking of starting a technology conference? Here's a handy sliver of organisational best practice I never thought I'd have to dish out: don't bark at your guests - many of whom are urbane investor types, better acquainted with the etiquette of the drawing room than with brash fishwifery - in the manner of a camp kommandant. And try not to threaten them with a curtailed lunch break should they fail to leap into their seats at sound of your voice.

Honda to continue as technology partner: Hero Grp
Honda to continue as technology partner: Hero Grp: Hero group is going to acquire 26% stake from Honda. Ravi Sud of Her Honda said that Hero Honda said that as a company – both companies got an excellent deal. He added that the definitive agreement would be signed in the next 2-3 weeks. Only a joint venture dissolution pact will be signed with Honda Motor, he said.
Analysts have had a mixed reaction to the news, with some saying that Hero Honda would see a spike in research and development costs. Sud agrees that meeting R&D and technology requirements would prove to be a challenge but said that Honda would continue to be its technology partner. He, however, said the auto company would explore other international companies in terms of technology
Sud sad the company would continue to use the joint Hero Honda brand through transition period till 2014. but incase of a change in technology partner, the brand would then see a change in name.
Sud added that meeting existing demand and tapping and developing markets globally too would be a problem.
Sud further said that royalty payments to Honda would be at 3-5% of sales and that all existing products would have no royalty after 2014. He added that royalty on new products would be in line with the current rates

Taiwan scientists claim microchip 'breakthrough'
Taiwan scientists claim microchip 'breakthrough': Taiwanese scientists on Tuesday unveiled an advanced microchip technology which they claimed marks a breakthrough in piling ever more memory into ever smaller spaces.
The scientists said they had succeeded in producing a circuit measuring just nine nanometres across -- one nanometre is equal to one billionth of a metre.
"Researchers used to believe that 20 nanometres was the limit for microchip technologies," said Ho Chia-hua, who heads the team behind the project at the state-run National Nano Device Laboratories.
A chip using the new memory technology has about 20 times the storage capacity of memory units now available on the market and consumes just one 200th of the electricity, the scientists said.
The benefits of greater memory and reduced electricity consumption are highly sought in the manufacture of electronic gadgets like smart phones and tablet computers.
Using such technology, a chip the size of one square centimetre will be capable of storing one million pictures or 100 hours of 3D movies, said Yang Fu-liang, the director general of the Laboratories.
However, Nobunaga Chai, an analyst of the Taipei-based electronics market research unit Digitimes, said it would be some time before anyone could start making money on the technology.
"I'm afraid it will take several years before the advanced technology can be turned into commercial use," he told AFP.
Taiwan is among the top four microchip producers in the world.
